Karate: Shodan (1st Dan) | Kobudo: Shodan (1st Dan)
Brief info
I began my karate journey at the age of 7, training in Shotokan karate in Upper Hutt. By my early teens, I was part of the Junior New Zealand Karate Team, competing at a national and international level. My competitive highlights include winning the 2001 Kobe Osaka World Cup in Malaysia and securing 3rd place at the 2002 Kobe Osaka World Cup in Germany.
After stepping away from karate for a few years, I developed my martial arts skills further during my 5 years in the army, where I trained in close-quarter combat (CQB). In 2023, I reignited my passion for karate, joining the Goju Ryu style. I achieved my Shodan (black belt) in Goju Ryu Okinawan Karate and Kobudo, grading in Okinawa, Japan, in 2024.
I am proud to share my knowledge and experience with the next generation of karate practitioners and look forward to continuing my journey within the dojo.
